Mathias John

Addiction + Recovery Specialist

Mathias is an addiction and recovery specialist (CPRC, anticipated 10/2025) with hands-on experience supporting individuals in both one-on-one and group settings within treatment facilities. Central to his own recovery journey has been the power of storytelling—sharing his own experiences and walking alongside others as they write theirs.

Rooted in a deep exploration of philosophy and the search for meaning, Mathias discovered the strength found in the quiet, often challenging, daily practice of introspection. This pursuit led him to co-author Not Yet Too Far Gone with Ashley Boyd—a book that opens the door to his personal journals, tracing his life from before addiction, through active use, and into recovery. Originally intended as a self-exploration to understand the "what" and "why" of his past, the project grew into something far more impactful: the book he wishes he’d had during his darkest moments.

Passionate about “raising the bottom” for others, Mathias is committed to destigmatizing addiction and modeling open, honest recovery for those who may still be struggling in silence.

Outside of his work as a recovery coach, Mathias is the founder of the Intellectual Phase Design Group, an architectural acoustic consulting firm. He lives in Franklin, Tennessee, with his wife, Jessi, and their dog, Lewis.
